  • The village has instant access to the ski resort in winter and a beautiful golf course in summer.

Overview

Founded in 1987, Mountain Village doesn’t have the rich history of Telluride, but the arrival of boutique hotels, spas, niche businesses and restaurants have made the town a contrasting yet appealing alternative to Telluride.

Location & Information

Mountain Village is only a 13-minute gondola ride or 20-minute drive from Telluride. The village core—where there are several hotels and a business plaza—is located at the bottom corridor of the gondola.

Winter Activities

Several beginner ski runs wind their way through Mountain Village’s rolling hills, and three ski lifts shuffle passengers onto the slopes right from the village.

The Mountain Village plaza also has an outdoor skating rink with rentals nearby.

Summer Activities

Telluride’s Mountain Village golf course spreads across the area's rolling meadows, open forests and colorful aspen groves. With a backdrop of the Wilson Range to south and the Uncompahgre Range to the north, it’s hard to imagine a more breathtaking course.

There are also several hiking trails in Mountain Village, several of which head up to the high ridgelines of the ski resort. The climb up See Forever, a ski trail running from the top of the mountain down to the gondola station, is a moderate hike with great views of Telluride and the surrounding mountain ranges. The hike can start from the Mountain Village base area or at the mid-mountain gondola station depending on how much vertical you want to climb.
