Imogene Pass Run
The Imogene Pass Run is a rugged 17 mile race from Ouray to Telluride, via a 13,120 foot steep mountain pass. The race is open to runners 15 years and older and the first 1500 applicants will be accepted. This popular and dangerous race is held in the beginning of September and fills up fast
Due to the time of year and unpredictable mountain weather, all racers are required to have gloves, hat and jacket. Racers should be properly prepared for sudden inclement weather and to negotiate steep, rocky, icy and snowy terrain. It sounds gruesome, but these challenges are part of what make the Imogene Pass Run exciting and mysterious. The race is held on a dirt 4X4 road with short stretches of pavement at the start and finish. A slew of awards are presented to male and female finishers in a range of ages, and each finisher receives a commemorative pin and all entrants get a t-shirt. For volunteers and spectators, there is a free shuttle that runs between Ouray and Telluride.
It looks like you may have missed it this time around.
