The Telluride Cardboard Sled Derby is a fun event for all kids and families. With three different classes of creativity,speed and overall winners there is a lot of fun for kids 5 to 17.

It’s time for One to One, San Miguel Mentoring Program’s annual Cardboard Sled Derby and BBQ, which will take place on the Tubing Hill at the Telluride Ski Area.
Registration is free and will begin at 9:30am. The race begins at 10:30am.
The derby is for all school-aged children, ages 5-17. There are three categories for the winners: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Race Winners, Speed and Creativity.
All participants receive a consolation prize and the place winners receive trophies. All registration and liability forms must be in by March 7th.
The BBQ following the race is free to all participants in the derby, $10 for spectators, and $5 for non-participating children and mentors. Last year, over 100 kids raced down the tubing hill. The sleds are made by using only cardboard, string, paper, tape, glue and paint, and then put to the test on the race hill.

Details: There are trophies awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in Race Winners, Creativity and Speed. All other sled racers will receive a consolation prize. But remember, only cardboard, string, paint, glue, tape, and paper are allowed to make the sleds. Also, all racers must wear a helmet, gloves, goggles and long pants and sleeves. After the Derby, there is a free BBQ for all participants.
