Balloon Rally
The annual Telluride Balloon Rally is not to be missed and is fun for all ages. The weekend festival takes place every June as the fleet of colors soars over downtown Telluride. At night, the five story hot air balloons line Main Street for the balloon glow and the balloon flicker, both magical displays of light.
The Telluride Hot Air Balloon Festival begins Saurday and Sunday mornings from Town Park. The colorful balloons float above town in an awe inspiring fleet. The Rally is fun for all ages, as some of the balloons remain tethered to the ground so kids can climb aboard. There are new balloons that have been added in recent years such as Bumby, a duck head, a squirell and Tweey Bird. From the air, the hot air balloons land on Main Street (wind permitting) for the nightly balloon glow. The balloon glow kicks off at sundown with the balloons fully illuminated. The balloon flicker follows in which the street becomes a wave of light.
