Government
The Town of Telluride is a home rule municipality. The town is governed by a mayor and six council members, which are each elected for four-year terms. Nearly every third Tuesday of each month, the mayor and council hold Town Meetings at Rebekah Hall, 113 West Columbia Avenue.
As Telluride, Colorado continues to sustain itself both during the winter through the skiing industry and in the summer with all the various outdoor activities, its government is structured to promote the town. In addition to a Mayor and a six member Town Council, Telluride also has a Town Manager which is appointed by the Town Council and who serves as the Chief Administrative Office for the town of Telluride's municipal government.
The Management of the entire town is overseen by the Town Manager and his/her department, which includes an Executive Assistant/Business Liaison, Personnel Director, Program Director, and the Information Technology Coordinator.
The Town of Telluride prides itself on providing many opportunities for citizens to be involved in the governmental decision-making. Citizen volunteers sit on The Board of Adjustments and Appeals, the Commission for Community Assistance, Arts and Special Events, the Telluride Election Commission, the Telluride Ethics Commission, the Historic and Architectural Review Commission, the Marshals Citizens' Advisory Board, the Open Space Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission and several others.
